Police training

The history of police training in Finland extends over a century. The training could not be called comprehensive or systematic in the beginning; some recruits started in the job without any experience. Nowadays, a university of applied sciences degree is a requirement for all police officers.

A history book offers insight to police training

In 2018, one hundred years had passed from the beginning of national police training and the establishment of the State Police School. A book on the history of police training was published to celebrate the anniversary , shedding light on the history of police training as a part of a society in a state of flux. Police training in Finland since independence) was written by researchers of history at the University of Helsinki.
