The National Police Museum has been nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award 2011. The competition for the award is organised annually by the European Museum Forum.

In addition to the National Police Museum, the following Finnish museums have also been nominated: Museum Centre Vapriikki (with its Tampere 1918 exhibition), the National Automobile and Road Museum Mobilia, and the Maritime Centre Vellamo, which is located in Kotka. A total of 34 museums from all over Europe are taking part in the competition.

The European Museum of the Year 2011 will be selected in May. The prestigious award was established in 1977 and it can be given to a new or newly designed museum.
